Sonic the Hedgehog 3 4K 2024

Sonic and his friends strive to defeat a new threat called Shadow. The Dark Hedgehog is faster and stronger than the three heroes, so the protagonists want to team up with unexpected allies to fight Shadow.

The whole trio of ‘Sonic's Squad’ (or just Squad) sidekicks are energized with laughter and joy. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are up to the task. We learn something new. Sonic will have a chance to rethink his pain thanks to Tom Wakowski's (James Marsden) advice; Tales will stop doubting and Knuckles will realize he's afraid of ghosts. Thanks to the creators for mentioning the beloved ‘Casper’ with Christina Ricci and Bill Pullman.

A huge thanks to Jim Carrey, or rather Dr. Robotnik (I'm more used to calling him Eggman). In this part he wanted to be not alone, so he opened his heart for his grandfather. In the climax, he brought me to tears with his video message. Turns out he valued his assistant Stone after all and took him for a friend. Eggman's act brought tears to the audience. Jim Carrey played both roles this time, but for one paycheck. Without a raise. But he left beautifully. Although something tells me the doctor will be back one day. I hope so.

This is the fourth time (if you include Eeyore Riot) that James Marsden has been able to get along with anthropomorphic animals. Sonic is his best on-screen friend. I still don't understand why, in an entire year spent with hedgehogs and a fox, his Tom couldn't have blood children (apparently the animals interfere with the process of having children with Mrs. Wakowski)?

By the way, loved the brief appearance as a hologram of Wakowski's sister and her fake hubby. The humor is certainly interesting with this grandmother!

Very happy to see the return after the ‘Knuckles’ mini-series of Adam Pally. Even if his character came back for a couple of seconds, but I'm glad that he took up a new sport.

There are plenty of references here. The characters (Sonic, Tales and Knuckles) joke about Hello Kitty or Godzilla, but watching a Godzilla movie is a painful process for Shadow the hedgehog as it reminds him of what a monster he is in people's eyes and who they think he is.

Shadow's voice acting is very impressive. Keanu did his best to create his scowling John Duck, only now it's not the dog he's avenging.

By the way, if you consider the scene after the credits of the previous sequel, Shadow's hedgehog is considered to be Dr. Eggman's find, not the government's, as it turns out in this third film. And Eggman himself didn't know the black hedgehog existed at all. Wrong, though!

One more detail that catches my eye: how could Eggman's grandfather have been in the same secret place since the 70's and still not age, since he was already old then?

I liked that we were hinted at that the world either existed or was emphasized in favor of the ‘Sonic X’ animated series, which featured a little blob of Chao, non-anthropomorphic creatures that are very defenseless and therefore in need of care. In video games, they are usually found to need frequent grooming. Chao creatures can evolve into a variety of forms. True rabbit Krim did not appear in the movie.

The film combines notes of drama and only a little comedy, unlike the first two parts, where there was a maximum of humor and it was off the charts.

I liked the next part, as there is self-sacrifice for the sake of a high goal.
