Foul Play 4K 1978

Classic in all respects, a comedy of positions, with a slight touch of parody on noir thrillers of the thirties of the 20th century. The movie itself is not bad, there are even original findings, interesting ideas. But it's hard to call this film a masterpiece, it's just a good comedy with quite funny 'humoresques', cozy old-fashionedness, I would say a special retrospective-reference to the 'dark' films of Hitchcock, Huston, Hawkes, which have long been an icon of the genre.

Even in spite of a certain secondary nature, this slightly wacky crime farce is not tiresome, the tape as if for almost two hours lightning fast before the viewer's eyes, plot twists about conspiracy, double games, murders, all sorts of 'winged' clues in the spirit of - 'beware of the dwarf', do not let you sleep and from time to time throw up every now and then all sorts of incidents, very deliciously seasoned with humor, jokes and actor's equilibrium.

As you know, the first pancake is a pancake, but the first test of the pen in the director's chair - Colin Higgins turned out quite well, of course there are garish, but they do not irritate the eye. Everything is done beautifully, interestingly and within the genre, without excesses, without overdoing it, as it came out in the Zucker brothers. Humor dosed, but good !

If in the movie itself even sometimes, yes flicker faults, then in the work of actors no 'weaknesses' absolutely no, everything is just on top! And how great is Goldie Hawn - and strangely enough, unlike many of her movies, where she looks like a 'naive' simpleton here she brilliantly portrays though modest, but smart and with a zadorinka, able to stand up for themselves, and in case of what is good otluchat street hooligan or gangster umbrella )

And for Chevy Chase this movie was the first major role in the movie in general, before 'Vacation', 'Fletch', 'Spies Like Us' he had to go a long way, to work twice with Goldie Hawn, to mark in a lot of second-rate and not very second-rate pictures to become one of the outstanding comedy stars of the 80s.

In general, the film turned out to be very good, it has a lot of humor, quality performance from the acting to a terrific 'thriller' atmosphere, and besides, besides Hawn and Chase, it starred such stars as Dudley Moore and Brian Dennehy, a very nice company, I must say.
