Snow White 4K 2025

This remake has been eagerly anticipated for a long time, having been reshot and postponed several times. It was eagerly anticipated because Snow White (1937) was the first full-length animated film to win over audiences, and Walt Disney spent the last of his money on the struggling studio, mortgaged his house, and sold his car to make it. The costs were justified, and the studio has been thriving, with varying degrees of success, for a hundred years, not forgetting to exploit its famous characters to the fullest. Since the rights to Snow White expired in the late 1990s, the studio, as with its other films in recent years, decided to make a remake with all its might, pouring huge budgets into both the film itself and its promotion. It seems that this time the investment did not pay off. The film started off at the level of Dumbo, whose success was modest at best, worse than that of The Little Mermaid. The blame for this lies with the scandals surrounding the film, most of which can be attributed to Snow White herself, Rachel Zegler.

And maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if the film itself hadn't been a mess cobbled together from scraps and reshoots.

At first, as I understand it, given the scandal after Peter Dinklage's statements, they decided to abandon the seven dwarfs and add “seven magical creatures,” whatever that means, which ended up becoming seven robbers. But after that came out, they brought back the dwarfs, and now we have seven bandits led by a “love interest” played by real people against seven drawn freaks that look like 2D dwarfs from an old cartoon and are of thirty-year-old quality. This is called, no, we didn't want to remove the gnomes, they are just additional characters that we added for mass appeal. Only one of the drawn gnomes looks tolerable, the rest of the freaks would fit better in “The Garbage Can Kids.” In the scene of the quarrel between the gnome and the dwarf bandit, I am trying to understand whether the bandit is a person with dwarfism or a gnome, but from a different company? The bandits are not revealed at all, just like the gnomes, but at least some viewers are familiar with them from the original.

Due to another scandal involving a “kiss without consent,” they added a song in which Snow White sings a song promising to wake each other up with a kiss if necessary. Thank you for saving the kiss, and now it is consensual.

Thanks to the agenda, we also have a utopian communist kingdom where people of all colors care for each other and share the fruits of their labor. Combining communism and hereditary monarchy... An interesting idea. It's shoved right in your face, clumsy, disgusting, and ridiculous.

Let's get back to the graphics. The graphics are terrible. I don't know where they spent so much money... Although I do know - on reshoots. After all the extremes and the addition of unnecessary characters, including Snow White as a child, to reduce the time of adult Snow White, there was no money left for normal graphics.

Costumes. The costumes are shabby, and Snow White's disgustingly bright outfit, which makes her stand out against the backdrop of the rest of the grayness, was painful to look at. The Evil Queen's outfits are chic in terms of detail but disgusting. Since the queen was dressed in black in the original, they decided to make her outfits “raven feather” colored. The chic “gemstone” crown is gray with a slight tint of color. Huge tasteless necklaces, also muted and only showing color in the light, a disgusting long cloak with a geometric pattern, a dress made of dark purple scales. It's all terribly tasteless. I don't understand how this woman seduced the king with her appearance. In Snow White and the Huntsman and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, there were gorgeous costumes, but this poverty is unwatchable.

Songs. I'm not a fan of the original and only know “Hey Ho” from the gnomes. But as far as I know, they added a few new songs and emphasized Zegler's vocal abilities. We don't hear that in the translation, so I can't judge, but Gal Gadot doesn't have those abilities and her singing is... average.

This brings us to Gal Gadot's performance. She's wooden. A Disney antagonist should be impressive, and she didn't pull it off. Her acting is mediocre, dull, and tasteless, just like her dresses. The supporting cast is non-existent. Zegler tries her best to portray herself as cute, but she sank her ratings even before the film's release.

The plot has been reworked to feature an independent, self-sufficient heroine, which is what most modern films are full of. Everyone talks about how strong and independent the main character is, but they never show it. There is no prince, instead there is a revolutionary communist bandit, who is supposedly unnecessary for a strong, independent heroine, but who saves her life.

At the end, there is a white party. If this is not a reference to P. Diddy's “white parties,” then forgive my association, given the backdrop of yet another Hollywood scandal.

To sum up. This clumsy, patchwork production will be forgotten in a year and will only be dragged out into the light of day to once again remind Rachel Zegler that she should not be allowed to act in films and, God forbid, interfere in the creative process. It's boring and overloaded. Better to watch the original or one of the other adaptations.
