I saw this film for the first time on VHS when I was about 11. I was absolutely thrilled! Everything a child who hasn't yet forgotten playing with toy soldiers and his favorite toys could expect from such a film was fulfilled. In my opinion, this is one of the best films for a young boy who is not yet grown up, and which will also be interesting for his parents to watch.
The plot is not too complicated: a toy company releases a new line of toys - luxurious toy soldiers with their own artificial intelligence. Battle-hardened commandos, fierce and ruthless, are opposed by strange monsters called Gorgonites, whose “ugliness” is supposed to make all the kids fall in love with the cool special forces even more. But one boy, whose father runs a toy store, accidentally has to find out if the special forces are really that good, and what lurks in the mechanical souls of the Gorgonites...
The latter, it should be noted, are some of the most charming fantasy creatures from “children's” films that I have ever seen. In my opinion, Okuyarchik alone, who is a large eye with legs, could put Donkey from Shrek or someone similar to him in his place — and there are quite a few Gorgonites like him (each unique in their own way). This is an example of a time when all heroes were treated with care and soul. The determined commandos also have their own “bad” charisma. All the scenes with them are full of humor, poking fun at all those invincible soldiers from American action movies. Overall, the film is full of very good humor that is equally funny for adults and children.
I don't know what to say about the acting, directing, or script (I didn't think about it at all at the time), but it's just a great family movie.
