Philip Noyce, whom we know well from the films Blind Fury and Patriot Games, invites us on a fascinating journey through old New York. We follow a mysterious killer who murders according to a century-old novel.
Together with police inspector Amelia Donahue (Jolie), we travel from Pearl Street to the old slaughterhouses and the East River. Our journey will be frightening, but that doesn't make it any less enticing.
At first glance, the plot of the film is typical: a talented teacher, a capable student, a cunning villain. Nevertheless, the film is interesting to watch. And the killer remains unknown until the very end.
It was also nice to see Queen Latifah in a non-comedic role, which is unusual for her. And Denzel Washington, as the bedridden criminal genius Lincoln Rhyme, is simply incomparable, as always.
Why is The Bone Collector one of my favorite films? The answer is easy. It has all the elements of the genre, skillfully brought together by a talented director and brilliant performances by talented actors.
