I was eagerly awaiting the release of this film, and lo and behold! My expectations of watching ‘The Clown’ coincided with reality.
First of all, the plot is fascinating: an unsuspecting man, wanting to please his son, puts on an old clown costume he found in the closet, but, to his great regret, after the holiday, he cannot take it off. He even has to go to work wearing a wig and a red nose. The poor father tries everything—he tries to cut the costume with a knife, he goes to see a doctor... but evil never sleeps, and the main character's metamorphosis is only just beginning. An evil demon craves the “sweet” flesh of a child and will stop at nothing to get it.
The film's undoubted strengths are the costume's legendary status, the excellent makeup, the dynamic plot that gradually leads to the denouement, and the logical actions of the characters. It even touches on the philosophical side of the choice: to save a loved one who is turning into a monster or to sacrifice innocent children.
I enjoyed watching this well-made horror film that follows all the conventions of the genre, which is not so common these days.
