An excellent film, and even though my favorite Godzilla film is Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992), I consider this one to be just as much of a masterpiece, with virtually nothing to envy. Perhaps I was influenced by the fact that I watched this film as a child, or maybe there is another reason, in particular, related to the dynamic plot and spectacular battles, which I absolutely love in all Godzilla films.
From the very first minutes, we are shown the credits and Mechagodzilla accompanied by dynamic, lively music, which already fuels interest in this creation. Then the opening credits end and the film itself begins. I must say that the plot turned out to be very interesting. Godzilla fights two opponents at once, plus there is a certain Kid who acts as a target for Godzilla and Rodan, who want to get their hands on this cute little dinosaur.
The fights and battles are top-notch. I especially liked Godzilla's first encounter with Rodan on the island. And even though it was a bit short, the angles they used to show us these monsters were awesome! How beautifully Rodan took off from the cliff and flew over the water, causing it to splash even more. Or how effectively he rammed Godzilla and pecked at her head... In a word, bravo!
Now I want to talk about the lizard itself. The image of Godzilla turned out great, although all of Heisei's films deserve praise here. In my opinion, this is exactly what Godzilla should be: scary, slow, creepy, and a little bit cute. During the Heisei era, Godzilla was more amusing than scary. (The only exception is the first film). In Millennium, I don't like the elongated shape of Godzilla's nose. Although this is a matter of taste, because everyone has their own idea of Godzilla, but personally, I like it exactly as it is in Heisei.
Special effects. For 1993, they are excellent. Of course, if you look closely, you can see some flaws, but I prefer not to focus on them, because it is completely inappropriate to criticize this film, which is rightly considered a cult classic and one of the best about Godzilla. I would even say that for 1993, the special effects are too good, and I am still amazed by some of the technically complex scenes.
