One of those clichés we all carry within us but cannot admit until we discover it within ourselves: You cannot truly get to know even those closest to you until you find the strength to get to know yourself.

And yes, this is the hardest discovery to make, but it is precisely what works, and it is precisely this that turns out to be such a cruel little truth we hide from ourselves.

Cruel because we ourselves, with some incredible diligence, invest a decade’s worth of effort into such a logical explanation of the many reasons why we don’t want to take the microphone.

And, of course, the microphone here is by no means a literal embodiment of tension that can be put into words, but an allegory of our desires, which seem inappropriate to speak of.

The film turned out to be powerful, rich, and though sometimes predictable, still spontaneous; because of this, you can feel the LIFE in it, which the entire film crew was able to convey.

I recommend watching this film with any group.

And since I analyze films more from the perspective of dreams, I’ll try to offer this description:

Watch this film from this angle as well: The main character (we see that he is in a drowsy stupor) has fallen asleep at the beginning—what is he dreaming about?

He is dreaming of his main conflict, which is difficult for any of us to integrate by acknowledging ourselves as its primary creator. His wife is himself. Through the dreams she left behind, Alex sees himself (the mirror—as the main metaphor that everything in a dream is our reflection).

Alex has reached the point where silence has become louder than the scandals. Ready for a truce, he descends into the laboratory of his own unconscious. Here, in the darkness of the subconscious, he himself becomes the operator, directing a spotlight onto figures from the past.

Under this beam, there is no room for masks. Father, mother, first love, friends—they all appear not as accusers, but as embodiments of his own unresolved conflicts. But the main revelation awaits him not in them. It comes with the image of his wife. Alex sees that all her “flaws,” all the pain he attributed to her, are in fact his own unacknowledged “self,” projected outward.

So that this knowledge does not dissolve like an ordinary dream, he captures it—speaking it into the microphone to himself. This act is not merely a recording; it is a ritual of acknowledgment. Acknowledging himself as alive, complex, full of contradictions.

And at the moment of this final inner reconciliation, QUEEN’s accompaniment sounds—a sharp, clear, modern call to awakening. He doesn’t emerge from the dream with a scream, but returns—as if the track had been that door, for which he had finally found the strength to open. He wakes up. Not into his old life, but into a new, unpredictable (and therefore awesome) beginning. The chapter of “resentment” is closed. Something exciting and beautiful begins. This is the healing work of the dream.
