Director Ben Gregor made a film about dopamine-fueled happiness. Some people enjoy running a household, others need social media, and still others can’t live without a constant party. Just think about these words: “A family from the city moves to the countryside.” For modern Europeans, the farm has truly become a kind of place of power. As they say, only on a farm can men and women find work that suits their tastes. The world of the farm and the surrounding fields and forests is pure magic for children. Only in such surroundings can one find their inner self and experience dopamine-fueled happiness. Since the 2000s, European culture has come to view happiness as a never-ending celebration and endless parties. Director Ben Gregor tells children a fairy tale about the magic that can be found everywhere on the farm.
The film unfolds with a genuine eco-theme. European directors and psychologists have long maintained that children need a mission. Director Gregor explains: “A mission can be found in any forest, because there is so much that is unknown and magical there.” I liked the film. I liked its eco-theme and its funny characters. I liked Moon, played by Anozi; Pot-Man, played by Farnaby; and String, played by Kohlan. Thanks to the makeup artists and costume designers for such vivid portrayals of these magical characters. “The farm as a place of power”—this resonates with Europeans who promote a green agenda. It’s a gentle fairy tale for viewers ages 6 and up. Only children can find their life’s mission in the forest. Once again, Europeans are telling us that a never-ending celebration is a kind of happiness accessible only to children.
I liked the movie. I liked its political correctness toward both adults and children. Actor Andrew Garfield, known for playing Spider-Man, has reinvented himself as a respectable family man. A complete family—that is true happiness.
Children believe in magic, while adults have to work to provide for their families. The moral is simple: “Dear children, you have plenty of free time. Find a mission for yourselves, and that will bring happiness to your parents.”
