A Man for Emmanuelle 4K 1969

A young, single woman living in a major Italian city in the late 1960s is left without her boyfriend. All her emotions, insecurities, and doubts are laid bare for the viewer. It’s nothing more than a stream of consciousness. The film is built around this.

The heroine wanders around the city. She meets men and shows a willingness to engage in sexual encounters. However... Our heroine isn’t interested solely in the sexual aspect. She doesn’t mind just chatting.

And this leads to many amusing situations. The climax comes with Adolfo Chelli’s clumsiness. Thanks to the heroine, the man loses his chain with a talisman at the most piquant moment. All his feigned masculinity vanishes. He’s ready to leave the lady and crawl on his knees in search of the trinket.

No less amusing is the elderly man who offers the heroine a tour of the city. The lady understands everything, but agrees anyway. However, how long will our “macho” man be able to endure a conversation with her?

This film reminded me of Bertolucci’s *The Partner*. Lots of direct speech and fragments of thought, minimal action.

A few words must also be said about Erika Blank. This vibrant, colorful actress likely expected this leading role to be her big breakthrough. She was shown in close-ups, and the most flattering angles were chosen. And yet, she certainly wasn’t lacking in acting talent.
