Days of Thunder 4K 1990

If "Top gun" entered the public and cultural consciousness of viewers around the world, like the cult movie of the creative tandem of Tom Cruise and director Tony Scott, "Days of Thunder" is not a recognizable story. Calling a spade a spade, we got a new version of the story about a young impulsive, but very talented man who finds himself in a deadly occupation. Instead of a female Air Force analyst, we now have a doctor, who also directly affects the fate of the protagonist. If we develop further analogies, this is already the third image of a freaking indigo for Cruise in his business, if we recall the "Color of Money".

Tony Scott is one of the few recognized directors who knew how to work with vehicles in the frame, not for a background tick or a chaotic chase from the police, but with the full involvement of the viewer in the process. It doesn't matter what kind of training base you have in the subject of NASCAR car racing. Spectator interest in what is happening is deliberately and successfully stimulated at once on several levels. A general curiosity about an entire sport with a millionth fan base. The behind-the-scenes life of riders, with their worries, injuries, confrontation, problems with financing and adaptability to the iron horse. The direct involvement of the viewer in the process of racing, when the camera puts us in the epicenter of the action, with roaring motors, music and tension.

As for the cast, here, already a world star, Tom Cruise, surprisingly, does not pull a blanket of attention solely on his appearance in the frame. His image of a young racing star came out as expected insolent, exciting, controversial. In the frame, the chemistry between Cruise and Nicole Kidman is felt with the naked eye, because it was on the set that the actors had a stormy romance. Robert Duvall plays the second violin of history and the image of the mentor came out no less interesting than his protege. With all the variety of emotions that unfold on racing tracks, it is the acting game, even the monotonous dialogs in the garages, that bring the whole story together, making it more than just cutting action scenes.
