Honeyland 2019

Khatidze raises bees in the Macedonian countryside. They have a mutually beneficial relationship: the woman always takes only part of the honey, sings to her bees, works without protective clothing and refuses technical innovations. Together with her elderly mother, who is busy preparing for death, they live without electricity surrounded by mountains. Khatidze takes honey to the city to sell, and uses the money to buy small pleasures: hair dye, a fan for his sick mother. At some point, Hussein's family moves to a neighboring plot: seven children, chickens, cattle, a trailer instead of a house. The newcomers bring chaos to the quiet way of Khatidze and her bees, and when Hussein finds out what the neighbor does - also decides to take up beekeeping, but his approach turns out to be much rougher....
