Forget about the first Suicide Squad. Compared to the new movie, this is a lousy movie. And this is not surprising, because the sequel was shot by James Gunn. Fans of the director will catch the tricks that have migrated into the film from Guardians of the Galaxy, but these tricks work great.
By the way, according to the plot, the suicide squad is now forbidden to be called that. Due to political correctness, he turned into the "X Squad". James Gunn feels best about how to shoot comics, each of his films is a balancing act on the verge of humor and seriousness - in one of the scenes you laugh, and in the other, you are surprised at the courage with which the director raises topics that are difficult for society.
In the new film, a squad of people who have nothing to lose will carry out a task that cannot be completed. In the process, double motives of customers will be revealed, there will be betrayals, intrigues and twists. The cinema honestly fulfills its R rating - the violence is not smoothed out, blood flows like a river, and some shots resemble the fatalities from Mortal Kombat.
With a two-hour timekeeping, the new "Suicide Squad" does not sag for a minute, all this is achieved with the help of little things: each of the characters shows their own character, the plot is filled with unexpected contrasts and internal conflicts.
As for the characters, everything worked out well here. Harley Quinn performed by Margot Robbie does not draw too much attention to herself, although, of course, this is the main factor of attraction for the audience. But to some extent she was even outplayed by the Portuguese actress Daniela Melsior.
The Peacemaker played by John Cena also turned out to be funny, his character loves the world so much that he is ready to kill anyone for it.
Shark King Nenue was voiced by Sylvester Stallone and is one of the most colorful members of the squad. Nenue wants to make friends, but the only problem is that he loves human flesh.
In the original, by the way, the film is simply called The Suicide Squad, there are no "missions right through" there, thus the filmmakers emphasize that this particular version of the film is correct. The conclusion suggests itself - no matter who releases the film - Marvel or DC - if a professional like James Gunn is at the helm, then in any case, it turns out a great movie.
