A cult sci-fi movie that has long been legendary.
I adore the first film as much as I hate all the other parts.
Christopher Lambert, who has just been cast by Luc Besson, is invited to Hollywood to shoot a sci-fi blockbuster, and they give him Sean Connery as a partner! In this picture, he is magnificent - brutal, unshaven, with a shrewd look of brown eyes, he creates a stunning image of a warrior, destined to win the competition immortal.
Directed by Mulcahy, played by Queen, filmed in Scotland and England (most of the New York scenes were shot in London), starring Lambert, (of course!) Connery, Clancy Bruhn (a very colorful character), a really interesting, but predictable story create a magnificent film, typical of the 80's, which I would place on a par with 'Terminator' and 'Blade Runner' in its cult status in Russia and in the world in general.
It means nothing that the film failed at the box office, America does not always immediately see the masterpieces - remember at least what happened to 'Blade Runner' and to 'Once upon a time in the Wild West' by Leone, which also failed at the box office. But what happened to them later!
"Only one must remain!"-I hope that in the memory of the audience will remain only one, the first film.
