Another classic from the Hill-Spencer couple, although the action is no longer in the Wild West. Once again, the director is Enzo Barboni, who began working with this duo with the movie “My Name is Trinity”, having made a total of nine films with them, although in some of them Hill and Spencer played separately.
The new characters of the Italian duo (their real names are Mario Girotti and Carlo Pedersoli) are sequels to Trinity and Bambino, which appeared in 1971. Hill is still charming, savvy, and fast, while Spencer is surly, gruff, and clumsy. In each movie about them, the plot and action is secondary, and in the foreground are the relationship of the couple, the good they perfectly complement each other, often conflicting, but doing it exclusively in a good way.
In each movie Hill drags Spencer into some sort of adventure or trouble. Spencer is very reluctant to go along with it, cursing Hill for all the “good” in the process. And this movie is no exception. First, through Hill's fault, the guys steal a truck without realizing it, and then they are mistaken for spies. And here it will not be boring.
I was amused by the moment when the CIA chief uses his shoe as a telephone - a parody of the TV series “Tighten Your Wits”. Another secret agent introduces himself as: “Scott, Jeremy Scott.” That's a reference to you-know-who. The TV series Kojak, The Blues Brothers, and The Godfather are also spoofed. In this movie, Hill and Spencer have to fight Chinese for the first time, a choice probably made because of Jackie Chan's gaining fame.
The fights themselves remain the same. Italian duo always tried to show them with humor, without blood and corpses, where the “bad guys” are forced to flee, not to part with their lives. Here everything is unchanged, they again prefer palms to fists.
So the output is a Hill-Spencer movie about Hill-Spencer in the style of Hill-Spencer. To all fans of these actors, it is highly recommended.
