I was looking for the movie Peacekeeper with Dolph Lundgren, but stumbled upon this movie made in the same year. The big names in the credits and the presence of our actors really caught my attention, so I decided to watch it.
At first, it was pretty interesting, but as the plot developed, it got more and more ridiculous.
The Russian government does not take any tangible action to find the missing weapons, and even the information about the location of the missiles provided by the generous Americans remains unanswered. I will not go into the details of the plot's nonsense, but I will analyze the actors who were the reason I started watching it in the first place.
Actors:
The main peacemaker, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Devoe (George Clooney), around whom everything revolves. He is a kind of know-it-all who has friends everywhere and who, without being hindered by useless pot-bellied politicians and the president, can cross state borders, etc.
The peacemaker's assistant, Dr. Julia Kelly (Nicole Kidman), pales in comparison to the narcissistic colonel. She offers some ideas and seems to request the necessary permissions.
General Alexander Kodoroff (Alexander Baluev) is one of the villains who stole nuclear weapons for big money. Are things really so bad that the general who stole the missiles is driving around in a beat-up truck, wearing a beat-up soldier's jacket over a dirty T-shirt?
Another villain, Dusan Gavrich (Marcel Juresh), is a politician who lost his family and calmly walks around New York, which is swarming with police and the FBI, with a backpack loaded with a bomb.
There are films that, even with a ridiculous plot, are worth watching for their beautiful images (spectacular explosions, epic battles), but that's not the case with this film — there's practically nothing to watch here.
And finally: It's nice to know that if our corrupt military decides to seize nuclear weapons, they will have worthy opponents — the American military.
