So, 'Thriller: A Cruel Movie' or 'They Called Her One-Eyed. A film that has no boundaries! A truly brutal, nasty, but also wildly sexy and enchantingly beautiful movie. There are a lot of rumors and horrifying facts surrounding it, and fans of Tarantino, and mostly of the 'Kill Bill' dilation, are buying up discs of this film all over the world! Sounds beautiful, doesn't it? It is! I thought it was just a regular action movie, but I was wrong. This is the most real movie, cinematography in its purest form. No falsehoods or lies.
Bo Arne Vibenius, aka Alex Fridolinski, made his only film known to the people, which was immediately rejected by the censors and simply not allowed into cinemas. Vibenius had to cut unwanted footage out of the 105-minute film several times and it was eventually cut to 82 minutes, but I, thank God, got the most complete director's version, which never made it to any cinemas, and that's a pity. The explanation for this phenomenon is simple enough. This movie is a porno-thriller. Yes, you read that correctly. No erotica. Realistic porn with all its charms and flaws.
Why do you think Beau made this movie? Was it for his love of filmmaking? No, he just needed the money, so he decided to make a quick movie. After writing the script in three days, he borrowed money and dared to make the movie. He cast Christina Lindberg, a rising star in Swedish erotica at the time, in the lead role. And you know, she pulls it off as a martyr, and later as a vigilante. Not to mention her body, of course. It's divine! The understudy, of course, can also be given credit for kindly providing organs in the hardcore scenes, but that's not necessary. Also great was the choice of an actor who has played bad guys all his life, Heinz Hopf, for the role of a violent pimp.
The plot of the film is simple, like most exploitation films, but that makes it very appealing. "Thriller" is a strong genre film that jumps from genre to genre. There's even a western at the end. All the murder scenes take place in slow motion, which makes the film even more special.
Bo Arne Vibenius and the charming Christina Lindberg have made a film that sticks in the mind strongly with the title and just as strongly with the content.
