Pretty good horror movie, with a somewhat unusual and interesting plot. I saw it for the first time a long time ago, when I was a kid. I didn't remember the title. What was my surprise when I found out that the revenge demon and the movie itself is called Pumpkinhead, more suitable for a comedy like 'Killer Tomatoes'.
Nevertheless, watching the movie after such a long hiatus, I saw a rather scary horror movie. On one hand the usual revenge story. How many of these have we seen. On the other hand, the person here is given the opportunity to take revenge with the help of some invincible mystical force - the demon of revenge. And if in revenge movies, the outcome can be at least theoretically ambiguous, then here everything seems quite deplorable for the heroes of the movie. They have almost no chance...
It is interesting to look at the behavior of the guys before that accident, and the development of their behavior and actions after it. You immediately understand who is who. Characters are revealed and we see the true face of each participant.
Relatively well thought out scenario. All the characters' actions are quite clearly motivated. I did not notice any noticeable inconsistencies.
Separately I would like to note the demon of revenge. He turned out to be very interesting and moderately scary. And the fact that he was taller than a man with long 'arms' with long 'fingers', had the ability to grab people as if from above, from somewhere above, unexpectedly for both the audience and the heroes, created an additional atmosphere to the movie.
The beginning of the movie, which is actually remembered from childhood, is quite atmospheric. The first portion of horror passes with gusto.
You can also dig up in this movie (with a special desire) and the semantic subtext, which is not hidden, but shaded by pure horror. This subtext is that if a man has chosen the path of revenge, he will either have to bring his revenge to an end or sacrifice his life. Judge not, that ye be not judged.....
