Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines 4K 2012

When a cult film gets trashy sequels, it's pointless to hope for a revival of its former quality. ‘Wrong Turn 5’ (how many times can you ‘turn’?) proves this hackneyed truth once again.

As usual, the trash is far from the best quality. I remember describing enough evaluation criteria in my reviews of the previous parts. I think it's worth judging and sentencing once again according to the established pattern.

There is nothing new in the plot, it's cliché upon cliché, although there is a strong emphasis on originality. There is no acting, the “actors” only portray love caresses and the torment of torture normally, everything else is like learning English through empty conversations. What struck me was the relationship between the ‘leader of the freaks’ and his ‘students’: guys who made another rotten horror movie, did you happen to forget who savage cannibals are? They are not Oxford students who understand human language and obediently listen (at least, that's how it seemed to me, but after the second part, I'm no longer surprised by anything). The makeup is puppet-like, a mask on top of a mask. The blood is something between bad computer sauce and sour cherry juice. In short, it's a delusional children's horror story.

Another logical disconnect in the script is the complete calmness of the cannibals. Arriving at the festival, supposed to be hungry and violent, they calmly wandered around in search of something incomprehensible. Somehow, this doesn't fit with their initial portrayal. And then they tortured their victims in ways that only humans can. Yuck.

Despite my love of thrillers and horror movies, in this case, it seemed as if the script was written and savored by a sick-minded person. Many episodes are disgusting (but for once, you feel sorry for the victims) and, what's even more annoying, they are frankly drawn out. The film crew clearly enjoyed the perverted actions of the characters they portrayed. I don't understand how this can be considered cool. There is a limit to everything.

The only thing I liked were some of the plot twists. That's it. Before I even got halfway through, I already wanted this nonsense to end quickly. Nonsense in which the well-known motto of any fairy tale is completely destroyed—and I won't say which one, because it's a huge spoiler.
