A classic production that is more than fifty years old, this picture is like a good aged wine, time does not spoil this film in any way. On the contrary, as the years go by, it acquires more and more charm. Bert A. Gordon made a movie with a minimum of costs, almost all the action will unfold, except for the beginning, in a narrow and confined space, in a large and beautiful, outside and inside, a mansion. Here the director has placed his few characters. Who of them is who and what each of them represents will be revealed exactly in the end of the movie, and I liked the end of the movie very much, it was moderately unexpected and certainly non-trivial.
Having a little money, the director tried to emphasize the psychological aspect and the tension around the relationship of the main characters. And he succeeded. Actors play very well, each of their roles performed at the appropriate level. This in turn contributed to the verified script, dialogs and events are built in such a way that do not give boredom to the viewer. Throughout the picture does not weaken interest in the events occurring on the screen. And the beginning of the tape is very conducive to this, it sets the mood of the whole picture as a whole. Plus not badly written out atmosphere contributes to even greater immersion in the picture.
You should not expect horrible and scary from the movie, the tape should be first of all evaluated as a thriller. Murders and violence here a little, something bloody and repellent do not wait, a minimum of blood. The ending seemed to me the highlight of the whole movie, not to reveal it I will just say that it turned out unhealthy or simply sick. For the aesthetically minded moviegoer and the lover of non-standard and unhealthy endings the movie should be to your liking.
