On the one hand, we are faced with a standard action film, which has not gone far from all other representatives of the genre. But on the other hand, it is an honest and surprisingly truthful film. A film which does not cover itself with mawkish American patriotism, but shows the whole world as it is. And for that alone Shooter is worthy of respect. Respect with a capital letter.
Shooter is the rare case in the American film industry where patriotism and love for one's country, whatever it may be, turns out to be genuine. It's a film whose makers understood that the first thing to defeat is an internal enemy. Enemies hiding behind the masks of honest citizens.
Unfortunately, I can't say much about the film itself. It is not bad and even very bad, but more because of the content than because of the execution. 'Shooter' is dynamic, as all action movies are. The leading actors are convincing, the production is high quality. That is, in principle, all.
But viewers should not ignore 'Shooter', because this is a film where they really are not afraid to tell the truth. The truth that politics is first of all money and power. And a country with such politicians has no purpose, and only then live people become the targets.
